Wish Factory introduced their adorably engaging plush Kawaii Cubes during Toy Fair this past February. They have deftly combined two very hot collectible trends, small plush and kawaii (Japanese term meaning 'cute'), into one irresistible creation. Given the strong character base they have started with, Kawaii Cubes will catch on quickly and easily be as sought after as Disney's Tsum-Tsums and Hallmark's Itty Bittys. Kawaii Cubes will be produced in limited quantities assuring their collectibility. These stackable plush toys come in 3 sizes. Small is 2.5" by 2.5". Medium is 4" by 4" and Large is 8" by 8". Suggested retail pricing is $4.99, $9.99, and $19.99 respectively. Current releases include DC Comics Heroes and Villains, Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, The Flintstones, and Looney Tunes. Coming soon are Batman Vs. Superman, Suicide Squad, DC Super Hero Girls, Star Trek, and Dorothy & the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy and the Tin Man have hit retailers in foreign countries, but are expected to arrive in the United States in June. More Wizard of Oz characters are forthcoming. Stay tuned!!
**I must apologize in advance for the quality of my photos. I couldn't capture the quality of the jewelry properly.**
10 PM Fashion recently introduced their Wizard of Oz collection with a soft launch of four pieces. It is very much like what you'd find in Hot Topic or Claires. The jewelry is made predominately of zinc alloy and the necklaces measure 18 inches with 3 inch extenders. Additions to the line are planned and hopefully we'll be a getting a sneak peek soon. In the interest of full disclosure I was sent the current offerings for review.
I liked the Rainbow in a Bottle more than I thought I would. Rainbow glitter is hard to resist and I love the little 'Over the Rainbow' charm accent. Little thoughtful touches like that make jewelry special. The rainbow is a symbol of hope that reminds us of our dreams as it did for Dorothy. The Rainbow in a Bottle would make a sweet gift for someone working toward a goal, struggling with personal issues or illness, or just plain having a bad day.
The Tin Man Locket has a film accurate portrait on the front with the quote "Now I know I have a heart because it's breaking." Lovely sentiment for a good bye gift. It has a magnet closure so it's easy to open and latch. And again, I love the little extra touch with the gold toned heart accent.
The Good Witch/Bad Witch Bracelets are perfect for people who don't like the clinking sound of metal bracelets. These would be wonderful to exchange among friends or to wear according to your mood.
The Ruby Slippers Necklace is the best seller. Tiny Ruby Slippers sit atop a yellow brick road in a glass dome which is reminiscent of the Wicked Witch's crystal ball or it looks like you have your own Smithsonian display! The antique framing and the jeweled accents are really pretty.
Any Oz collector especially one who loves jewelry would be be delighted to have any of these pieces plus they'd be great for cast members in plays, or for any occasion really. Easter is just around the corner. These would be darling additions to baskets for on the neck or wrist of a plush toy.
Final verdict: These are really cute, charming pieces that won't cause cash fatigue especially with the free shipping and the Curiozity Corner discount code for 15% off: curiozitycorner
I apologize for not having the whole line up the first time. My source wasn't able to get the whole line for me. These items are showing up in stores now or you can order onhallmark.com
Please see the previous blog entry for the rest of the gift line. Also on the blog is a sneak peek of the new Emerald City ornament and don't forget the Itty Bitty storybook with new Dorothy and Glinda Itty Bittys coming in August.

A bit quiet at Toy Fair this year as far as Oz is concerned but we're grateful to see any Oz nonetheless. First up is the Polar Lights Wicked Witch of the West Resin Figure Model Kit. It's been a long time coming and I still don't have a definite release date, but it looks like it's going to be totally worth the wait if the newly designed packaging is any indication. Check with your local hobby and model shops for availability and pricing.
Next up we have the new Glinda and Dorothy with Toto from Madame Alexander. Super pretty girls!! During Toy Fair Alexander was still unsure if this was the Toto size they were going to release ultimately. To which I saw PLEASE DON'T CHANGE HIM. He's perfect!! It's nice to see a suitable Toto. Too many companies skimp on our favorite cairn terrier. Glinda and Dorothy are the 18 doll size that has become so popular. They have an SRP of $89.95.
Big Thank you to Dave McKroffterson for taking time out of his busy Toy Fair weekend to take pics for the Curiozity Corner!!!
I wish I could come up with better adjectives to describe this Lion. Right now all I can say is WOW!!!!! I really think in the history of Wizard of Oz collectibles based on the film this is one of, if not the best, representations of the Cowardly Lion. He has the sweetest, kindest face I've ever seen on a Lion collectible. I hesitate to even call these dolls anymore. They are three-dimensional works of out. The painstaking patience and study that went into producing these is unimaginable to me. R. John Wright is another artist that has obvious veneration for The Wizard of Oz. He really must be a wonderful wizard to create a collection like that!! R. John Wright has been featured on many magazine covers and reserved numerous lauds from the doll community and deservedly so.
The Cowardly Lion is due out this Summer. He stands 17 inches tall. He is all felt and fully jointed. He'll be produced at R. John Wright's workshop in Vermont. Only 250 will be made. He is $1575.00 Please see this page for more details and keep an eye out for production photos. It will be amazing to get a taste of the process that brings these characters to life.
Here's the gang behind the scenes getting their glamour shots. I SO can't wait to see the final result. The main characters all together are just breathtaking!! Courtesy of R. John Wright.
Poster will go on sale at a random time tomorrow. Follow Mondo on Twitter for sale announcement. This is Mondo's fourth Oz release and they just keep getting better and better.
I have to say the more I look at this, the more I love it and I loved it at first sight. I literally gasped. I love the chosen scene, one of the best from the movie. The interpretation of the characters is original, yet true. Toto is just darling. And I love there is so much purple. I don't get a lot of purple in Oz collectibles so when my favorite color is included, I'm thrilled! Mondo has done an incredible job with the artist selection for their series of Oz posters. They pick talent, but also the artists seem to have a respect for the property. It's always appreciated when a licensee shows such reverence for a property.
Hallmark currently has a feature on Keepsake artist Orville Wilson which features a sneak peek at an Emerald City Magic Ornament. Keepsake Ornament Premiere is July 9th - 17th. Mark your calendars!! Please see this link to learn more about this wonderful artist and his memories of Oz.

“What are you going to do with my dog? Give him back to me!“ “All in good time, my little pretty, all in good time.“ “Please, give me back my dog!“ “Certainly, certainly...”
With these famous lines we conjure up one of the greatest antagonistic villains of all times - Wicked Witch of the West. Over the decades, audiences have grown to love this colourful character -- making her second only to Dorothy in terms of popularity.
As part of the hugely popular series which celebrated MGM’s 1939 film classic “The Wizard of Oz”, by far the most famous adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s novel, Steiff are delighted to offer all Oz fans a wonderful Wicked Witch who flies in the villainous footsteps of her predecessor.
Allow her to cast her spell on you, you won’t regret it!
