Thom The Mentor

Throughout his career, Thomas Kinkade developed and trained artists with the intent of continuing his legacy of Sharing the Light™. He was involved in nurturing and sharing his passion for art with colleagues and the younger generations of artists in an effort to further perfect and nurture his techniques and styles and vision. This artistic mentorship of great artists passing the flame of knowledge and sharing skills is an age old tradition.

Evolution of the Atelier System- Thomas Kinkade Studios

Throughout time, the atelier system was foundational to the development of western art. Atelier, meaning an artist’s studio for training in fine art, is a long-standing commonplace throughout the world.

Leonardo da Vinci himself apprenticed under Andrea del Verrocchio and belonged to the Verrocchio Studio.

With Attention to Detail and Reverence for Style

In this tradition of Master artists passing on their experiences, Thomas Kinkade loved to share his passion of art with a cadre of artists and to train them in his creative process. Thom had great excitement to exchange ideas about art with his atelier and actively trained and recruited this talented group. This collaborative environment allowed Thom to teach his methods with other artists and impart to them the techniques, concepts and vision that he was so well known and loved for.

The Thomas Kinkade Studio continues in the path that Thom himself started and developed. Thomas Kinkade Studio Artists painting the true Thomas Kinkade style with great attention to detail, a love of light and an overwhelming appreciation of the way a picture can tell a beautiful story. Carrying on the model Thom himself had been driven to develop, Thomas Kinkade Studios carries on the Kinkadian tradition to create art that will stand the test of time and be treasured for the ages.

Follow the YELLOW BRICK ROAD™

THE WIZARD OF OZ™ II

By Thomas Kinkade Studios

Since its opening, The Wizard of Oz film has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions of viewers. In Follow the YELLOW BRICK ROAD, all of the great Wizard of Oz characters are captured as their journey begins down the fabulous Yellow Brick Road. Glinda the Good Witch looks on as the Munchkins merrily celebrate their newly gained freedom from the Wicked Witch of the East whose demise came from a falling house. Above "Munchkinland", the Professor Marvel balloon floats towards the Emerald City while Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion begin their adventure. And, of course, the Wicked Witch of the West looks on, watching their progress and hoping for an opportunity to capture the fabled Ruby Slippers.

The color and beauty of the Land of Oz have been elaborated in this masterwork using Thomas Kinkade Studios’ signature romantic luminist style. Gorgeous flower beds line the Yellow Brick Road and the mountains in the distance are glowing with the warmth of the passing day. The dappling of light on the ground appears from the shadows as the sun bursts through the foliage of the trees. Dimension emerges and the image comes to life with these artistic effects. Join with Thomas Kinkade Studios and all those who love the fantasy of The Wizard of Oz in celebration of this exciting release.

And the adventure continues...............

Thomas Kinkade's trek through Oz commenced almost 3 years ago with his debut issue Dorothy Discovers the Emerald City.  Fans and collectors of both The Wizard of Oz and Thomas Kinkade have waited with eager anticipation for the follow up piece and Thomas Kinkade Studios does not disappoint.

The splendor of Oz is once again brought to life in breathtaking detail.  The veneration for the classic film by Thomas Kinkade Studios is joyous to behold.  The original magnificence of Oz is further exemplified by Thomas Kinkade's signature "romantic luminist style" and stunning floral landscapes.  In Follow the Yellow Brick Road, we are shown the beautiful visage of Dorothy Gale as she marvels at wonders  beyond her imaginings.  The light from the heavens casts an ethereal glow over Dorothy and her whimsical new friends illuminating their joy at having found each other.  Each is aglow with the hope their dreams are finally within their grasp, just at the end of the road.  Even little Toto seems aquiver with the infectious elation of his companions.  However, the Wicked Witch's minion lurks close by reminding us that following our hearts desire isn't always an easy pursuit, but the gleaming hint of Emerald City assures us the rewards will be well worth conquering any peril.

Press releases issued by Warner Brothers thus far indicate this will be an anniversary to remember.  What better way to celebrate the diamond anniversary of The Wizard of Oz  then to add Thomas Kinkade Studios' Follow the Yellow Brick Road to your collection? This marvelous masterpiece is an official 75th anniversary commemorative and the certificate of authenticity will bear the special anniversary logo.

As with the previous release, Follow the Yellow Brick Road will be featured on a variety of collectibles such as puzzles, glass prints, mugs, and night lights.
